Mapceline Studio
Mapceline Studio is a private, personal-use app. The owner of the Mapceline shop on Etsy uses it to run that one shop: to design the custom map prints, to create and update the shop's own listings automatically and to process the shop's own orders. It is not sold, not offered to other sellers and has no public sign-up.

What it does
- Design tools. It holds the tools we use to design each print: map styles, color palettes, lettering and export in standard print sizes.
- Automates our own listings. It creates and updates the Mapceline shop's listings: titles, descriptions, tags, photos, video, the ten color options and the personalization question.
- Processes our own orders. It reads the Mapceline shop's orders to see which design and color each buyer chose and what they wrote in the personalization box, so the right map is made.
- Prepares printed posters (planned). For printed posters we plan to work with Gelato, Etsy's print-on-demand partner. Gelato receives those orders through its own connection to our Etsy shop; the studio only hands Gelato the finished print file for the order.
How it uses the Etsy API
- It connects to one Etsy shop only: Mapceline. The shop owner signs in to Etsy and approves the access with OAuth 2.0.
- Permissions requested:
shops_r,listings_r,listings_w,transactions_r. - Endpoints used: getShop, getListingsByShop, createDraftListing, updateListing, uploadListingImage, uploadListingVideo, updateListingInventory, getShopReceipts and getShopReceiptTransactionsByReceipt.
- It never reads other shops, other sellers' listings or Etsy members other than the buyers of Mapceline orders.
- Requests are made one at a time, when a listing or an order is handled, well within Etsy's rate limits.
How it handles data
- Buyer data (name, the places, names and dates written for the map, and the chosen color) is used only to make and deliver that buyer's order.
- It is never sold, shared, used for advertising, profiling or analytics, or combined with other data.
- For a printed poster, only what Gelato needs to print and ship it goes to Gelato: the print file and the shipping details of that order.
- It is kept only as long as needed to complete the order and answer questions about it.
- The studio runs on the shop owner's computer and on a private, password-protected server. API keys and sign-in tokens stay there and are never sent to website visitors.
